During the course of the movie O'Connor and Pearce begin to realize the major trouble they are in and ask Tej to arrange a race for "pink slips" with two of the racers from the audition race earlier in the movie O'Connor and Pearce win Korpi's 1969 Yenko Camaro and Darden's 1970 Challenger R/T. This leads to several scuffs and car sequences throughout the movie, along with some spectacular car races.
Roman Pearce requests that the prize be $100,000 for both himself and O'Connor. They win a highly charged "audition" race and strike a deal with Verone, who stated, "Drive the package to the Keys and I'll personally hand over 100Gs ($100,000) at the finish line". Together their mission involves working undercover as street racers for a South American-Argentine drug lord - Carter Verone, with help from Monica Fuentes an undercover U.S. O'Connor and Bilkins then travel to Barstow, California where O'Connor proposes the deal to his childhood friend and ex-con Roman Pearce. O'Connor is now known by his street name " Bullitt", and competes with fellow street racers in high stakes races to win money utilizing the skills he learned as a member of Toretto's now disbanded team. Here, he makes new friends Tej Parker an ex-street racer and well-known car tuner Jimmy as well as Suki, another street racer. Although you might have more than a few problems with it, this movie is still plenty of fun for both action movie fans and gearheads alike.Brian O'Connor, now a disgraced cop, is on the run because he let Dominic Toretto escape.

Where it fails to create likable characters or a compelling narrative, it succeeds in providing entertaining sequences of vehicular action and suspense. By embracing the wackier side of the original movie, 2 Fast 2 Furious starts the trend of over-the-top action that the franchise would eventually become so popular for. The story is paper-thin and predictable, but the action keeps things refreshing all the same.

Overall, thisis an entertaining yet severely flawed sequel. Even though 2 Fast 2 Furious is pretty lackluster in terms of script and acting, it still delivers exciting action. You’ll see some absolutely wicked car action, and while the practical effects hold up better than the CGI, most of it is still tons of fun.īy stepping away from the underground street racing story of the first movie and substituting it with a gangster flick set in Florida, the narrative has some opportunities for truly wacky and fun sequences. Generally speaking, the story leaves a lot to be desired, but it works as a way to deliver some crazy action.Ģ Fast 2 Furious finds some redemption within the action scenes though, which are both inventive and never taken too seriously. The dialogue often boils down to these two characters bouncing one-liners off each other, whether during an intense shoot-out, a planning phase, or a car chase. This includes Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), one of Brian’s childhood friends and an overall troublemaker.
